Zipaquirá and the Salt Cathedral

At the agreed time, you will depart from Bogotá toZipaquirá, a municipality located in the Sabana de Bogotá and recognized for its salt mining tradition.

On the tour you will learn part of the history of this region, where the Muiscas people used salt springs to produce traditional salt breads, used as an important means of exchange.

The visit will continue at theZipaquirá Salt Cathedral, built inside an old salt mine, approximately 180 meters underground. During the tour you will be able to appreciate its spaces and learn about the relationship between the mining tradition and the religious devotion that characterizes this place.

Inside the Cathedral there is a chapel dedicated toOur Lady of the Rosary of Guasá, patron saint of miners, whose name refers to the word Chibcha used to designate a mine.

Chiquinquirá, destino de fe

After the visit, you will continue toChiquinquirá, in the department of Boyacá, recognized for its religious tradition and for housing theBasilica of Our Lady of the Rosary in Chiquinquirá, a sanctuary dedicated to the patron saint of Colombia.

Upon arrival, you will take a panoramic tour through the streets of the town and visit theChapel of the Renewal, a place associated with the religious tradition of the renewal of the canvas of the Virgin of Chiquinquirá.

Later, you will visit theBasilica of Our Lady of the Rosary in Chiquinquirá, where you can learn about its interior and, according to the schedule of the celebration, attend part of a mass.

Before starting the return to Bogotá, you will have time to purchasesouvenirs and religious items.

At the end of the day, you will return to Bogotá and will be transferred to your hotel.
